flemishchildrensjuryThe Flemish Children's Jury Selection for 2015 has been announced! Four Gottmer-picture books are amongst the nominees, two of which are of Dutch origin: Held op sokken (Good Knight) by Bette Westera & Thé Tjong-Khing and De grote dag (A Big Day Ahead) by Arnoud Wierstra. 


Children between four and sixteen years can participate in six different age categories: up to 6 years, 6 to 8 years, 8 to 10 years, 10 to 12 years, 12 to 14 years and 14 yeras and up. For each age group, a professional jury has selected 10 books for the children to read, after which they can vote for their favorite, no later than April 17th 2015. All the selected books were publlished in 2013. 

 

Held op sokken (Good Knight) by Bette Westera & Thé Tjong-Khing is nominated in the age category up to 6 years, as is This Is Not My Hat by American author and illustrator Jon Klassen, published under the Dutch title Deze hoed is niet van mij. De grote dag (A Big Day Ahead) by Arnoud Wierstra is nominated in the age category 6 to 8 years, as is Henri Goes to Paris by Leonore Klein & Saull Bass, published under the
Dutch title Henri gaat naar Parijs.

 

On May 10th, the winners will be announced during a festive meeting in Ghent (Belgium), which all of the participants and most of the authors and illustrators will attend. We want to congratulate all of the nominees and look forward to the Big Day in May!
